Year 10 Comenius Students Visit Ettenheim, Germany
Comenius Update: Year 10 Comenius Students Visit Ettenheim, Germany for International Student Conference
Twelve year 10 students, accompanied by Miss Glaves and Mr Carrington visited our partner school in Ettenheim, Germany from 31st March - 3rd April to participate in the year 2 Comenius International Student Conference, along with students from our partner schools in Italy and Norway.
At the conference itself, students reported back results from surveys carried out at Whitgift about 'fairplay in sport'. In addition, a presentation about the media's representation of fairplay was also given, and students introduced our European partners to the very British game of Cricket, and the saying 'it's just not Cricket' - which is used in our language to express whether something is fair or not. Whitgift students presented each European school with their own cricket set in preparation for next year's international Comenius sports event, to be hosted here in Grimsby.

During the visit, students also visited the European Parliament building in Strasbourg, France, where they were given a guided tour and had a question and answer session about European politics. They also spent the day at 'Europapark', Germany's largest themepark.
All twelve students thoroughly enjoyed the visit and were excellent ambassadors for the school. They particularly enjoyed sampling German Food and enjoyed the cultural differences.
