New Maths Award

The Findus Group kindly sponsored a new award for Whitgift's Awards Evening earlier this term. It was called the "Findus Group Progress in Maths" award, and it will be given each year to a student who has made fantastic progress in maths - not necessarily achieved the highest level or grade. This year a Year 9 student, Natasha Kearns, won it.

Logo Competition

The Year 8s have been involved in a competition to design a new logo for our Maths Department. It had to involve symmetry, but the design could be anything that captured their imaginations! The finalists in the competition were: Shinnara Fisher, Levi Rendall, Natasha Mitchell, James Ferroll and Ruby Howard. The competition was judged by Mrs Pepper, the Yorkshire and Humber Maths Strategy Consultant.

Second Runner Up with Credit - Levi Rendall

First Runner Up with Merit - Natasha Mitchell

WINNER WITH DISTINCTION - James Ferroll

The new logo will be used to represent the maths department both in school and authority wide. It cleverly incorporates a "W" for Whitgift School, a pair of compasses, numbers, and the college colours. Well done James!
