Scientific Calculators

ELP/MW

14th September 2007

Dear Parent/ Carer

A calculator is an essential piece of equipment for various subjects including mathematics. All mathematics exams currently assume that each candidate has a working calculator, with papers split into two categories – Calculator and Non Calculator.

In mathematics lessons we teach with this in mind and we encourage all students to buy their own scientific calculator. Calculators can be bought from most stationers, as well as Argos, Woolworth’s and supermarkets.

It is important that students are familiar with the way their calculators work, and as such, students should bring their calculators to every mathematics lesson throughout their school career.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Yours sincerely

Ms E. Philip
Assistant Lead Learner Maths and ICT
